War in the Heavenlies
Psalm 144:1-5 records the prayer of a skilled Warrior by the name of David. From the days of his youth and throughout his reign as King of the nation of Israel, God empowered him in the art, science, and strategies of prayer and spiritual warfare.
James 5:16 "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
The word effectual in the Greek means efficient, to be active, operating and working. In other words you need to pray prayers that are effective and work, and in order for that to happen you must become skillful in the word of righteousness. Your battles should be waged in the heavenlies.
Here are a few strategies to help you get started:
Maintain the proper:
A. PERSPECTIVE
o Heavenly, panoramic view (Rev. 4:1)
o Far above Principalities and Powers (Eph. 1:21-23; Col. 1:18)
B. POSTURE
o Stand Offensively (Eph. 6:11)
o Stand Consistently (Eph. 6:13)
C. POSITION
o Heavenly Places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6)
o As He is, so are we in this world (I John 4:17)
o Throne Room Prayer (Heb. 4:14-16; 8:1-5; 10:19-23)
Check your Armour
A. Make certain you are properly armoured (Eph. 6:13-17)
B. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provisions for the flesh‚ lust, envy , strife,
bitterness, fornication, hatred, etc. (Rom. 13:14: Gal. 5:19-21)
C. Confess sins (Psalm24:3-5; Pro. 28:15)
D. Examine yourself and determine if you need to repent of something or release (forgive)
someone.
E. Cast your cares and burdens upon the Lord. Remember, you do not fight spiritual battles in
your own strength; you fight them in the strength of the Lord.
Effectively use your Authority
A. The blood of Jesus Christ (Heb. 10:19-23)
B. The name of Jesus Christ (Phil. 2:9-11)
C. The authority of the Word and the Sword of the Spirit. (Eph. 6:18)
D. The spiritual position of Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:20-23; 2:6)
Effectively use your Weapons
A. The Sword of the Spirit
B. The Blood
C. The Anointing
D. Marching/Walking/Stomping/Dancing
E. Clapping
Praying from the right position, in the right posture, with the right perspective, will cause your faith to be made perfect, portals of Heaven will open knowing that your prayers are heard and your answers are on the way (I John 5:14-15).
